What's a spread bet? The spread or point spread (an American term for a handicap bet) is a positive or negative value applied to a team’s total at the end of a specified period. It predicts which team will win once the 'spread' has been applied. Any bets ending in a tie once the spread has been applied will be void. For example: Event Selection Actual result Result after handicap applied Chicago Bulls @ NY Knicks Chicago Bulls +6.5 Chicago Bulls 110-112 NY Knicks Chicago Bulls 116.5-112 NY Knicks(Bet wins) Chicago Bears @ NY Giants Chicago Bears -7.5 Chicago Bears 27-23 NY Giants Chicago Bears 19.5-23 NY Giants(Bet loses) Buffalo Bills @ NY Jets NY Jets -5.0 Buffalo Bills 15-20 NY Jets Buffalo Bills 15-15 NY Jets(Bet void) For more information, see our general rules here.
